What is the difference between oil based log home stains and water based log home stains?
Oil based log stains can have a strong odor, are user friendly, produce a natural looking finish but require the use of solvents during the clean-up process. Water based log home stains usually have a mild odor, are green friendly but can be a little more difficult to apply. Both types of log stains can offer the end user a good finish if the proper application steps are followed. We recommend cleaning your logs and allowing them to dry prior to applying your log home stain. Additionally, we highly recommend brushing your log home stain. It is the brushing process that forces the log stain into the pores of your wood which will give your log home stain more durability.
